Fuck you Captcha!

On the urging of the badassist of the badasses, Vaspers the Grate, Captcha is gone. Be so advised when commenting. You get to skip a step, but you also don't get the extra editing time.

I want to give credit to my good buddy Jim Estill, CEO of Synnex Canada Ltd., for steering me to the safer shores of blog usability on this tip.

As a blogologist, I love giving tons of free advice to my betters. But when Jim Estill told me to "kill word verification", I hate to admit that I was astonished at my stupid blind spot. Captchas are not necessary IF you have comment moderation.

Captchas just put an annoying layer of befuddlement between you and your audience, in particular, comment posters.

Captchas block spambots, but I usually have to type in "what I see" about 3 or 4 times before I get it right. They are generally TOO FUCKING HARD for humans to read!

Vaspers is right -- the captcha characters are too hard for people to read...the problem when I turn off Captcha is between 1 - 10 SPAM comments a night. Comments that go on for literally 2 pages that use this sacred space to hawk BS products. I look forward to a remedy. Have fun being footloose and captcha-free ;-).
